A mandatory training on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, was held on August 31, 2024, at the PG Campus, PIMR. The session, led by Dr. JyotiBajpai, a POSH expert from PIMR, aimed to create awareness and ensure compliance with the Act’s provisions to foster a respectful workplace.
Dr. S.S. Bhakar, Group Director of PIMR, gave the introductory note. Dr. Bajpai outlined the key provisions of the POSH Act, explaining its purpose to prevent and redress instances of sexual harassment, safeguarding employees’ rights and dignity. She elaborated on various forms of harassment, including physical, verbal, non-verbal, and inappropriate digital communication, stressing the need for vigilance in recognizing these behaviors.
The session focused on the role and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), highlighting the process for its formation and the importance of handling complaints fairly and confidentially. Dr. Bajpai also discussed best practices for fostering a respectful work environment, including regular awareness programs, open communication, and management’s visible commitment to upholding the Act’s principles.
The session concluded with a Q&A, followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Deepak Jaroliya, Director-IQAC. The training was well-received by faculty and staff, reinforcing a commitment to implement best practices and ensure full compliance with the POSH Act.
