Report: Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Workshop

The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Workshop was held on August 28-29, 2024 at PG Campus. This workshop provided a thorough exploration of Outcome-Based Education principles, aiming to enhance participants’ understanding and application of these concepts in educational settings.
The workshop was inaugurated with a keynote address by Dr. S.S. Bhakar, Group Director, PIMR who outlined the workshop’s objectives and significance. This was followed by a group photograph to mark the event. The sessions commenced with Dr. Deepak Jaroliya, Director, IQAC delivering a comprehensive introduction to OBE. He elucidated the core concepts of Outcome-Based Education, highlighting its relevance in improving educational practices and ensuring that learning outcomes are effectively achieved.
Following Dr.Jaroliya’s session, Dr. Vipin Choudhary, Professor and In-charge Examination Department, conducted an in-depth presentation on mapping Program Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs) using Bloom’s Taxonomy. Dr. Choudhary emphasized the importance of aligning educational objectives with assessment criteria to measure learning outcomes accurately. This session provided participants with the tools and knowledge to structure curricula in a way that ensures clear, measurable outcomes.
The afternoon sessions included a practical group activity where participants were guided by Dr.Jaroliya and Dr. Choudhary in formulating Course Outcomes. This activity allowed attendees to apply the concepts discussed earlier, engage in collaborative work, and develop actionable outcomes for their respective programs.
The second day continued with a focus on the attainment of Course Outcomes. Dr. S.S. Bhakar led a session on evaluating COs through both internal and external assessment components. He discussed various assessment methods and tools, stressing their role in measuring educational effectiveness and ensuring that learning objectives are met.
Dr. Vipin Choudhary then led a session on designing question papers using Bloom’s Taxonomy and rubrics. This session provided practical strategies for creating assessments that align with learning outcomes and accurately measure student performance. Dr. Choudhary’s insights into question paper design were aimed at improving the alignment of assessments with educational goals.
The workshop concluded with a session on preparing a course file, facilitated by Dr.Bhakar. This session covered the critical components of a course file, including best practices for documentation and tracking Course Outcomes. Participants were equipped with the knowledge to compile and maintain comprehensive course files, supporting transparency and accountability in educational processes.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, where certificates were awarded to participants in recognition of their engagement and contributions. Overall, the workshop provided a detailed and practical understanding of Outcome-Based Education, offering valuable insights into curriculum design, assessment strategies, and effective documentation practices. The interactive sessions and group activities facilitated a deeper understanding of OBE principles, contributing significantly to the enhancement of educational quality and effectiveness.

Initially, Dr. Agrawal briefly talked about all the ten criterion of NBA. Further, she has focused on criteria III: Program Outcomes & Course Outcomes of NBA. She has explained the difference between evaluation and assessment and also she discussed the components of direct and indirect assessment. Dr. Agrawal threw light on the importance of rubric used for evaluation and she also mentioned tools which can be used for assessment purpose by faculty members. Further, she has explained the calculation of CO-PO attainment with the sample data. Each calculation along with formula was explained by her very commendably.

Outcome Based Education for NBA Accreditation

Internal Quality Assurance Cell has organized a workshop on “Outcome Based Education for NBA Accreditation”. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. R. Sesha Iyer, Ex- Director and Professor at SPJIMR, Mumbai.

In the beginning of the workshop Dr. Iyer highlighted the significance of outcome-based education for NBA Accreditation. Prof. (Dr). Deepak Jaroliya, Director, IQAC shared his action plan for NBA Accreditation with the resource person and it was well appreciated.
During session a detailed discussion was being carried out on Implementation of outcome-based education using ICT based resources and Learning Management System (LMS).

During the criterion-wise interaction, many suggestions were provided by the resource person mainly related to research projects., international connect, alumni contribution, etc. Dr. Sesha Iyer has appreciated the preparations of all the criteria and also suggested some points which can be minutely evaluated by the NBA team during the visit.

Environmental Initiatives
Plantation Drive – एक पेड़ माँ के नाम
Prestige Foundation Educational Institutions organized a one-day tree plantation program under the "एक पेड़ माँ के नाम " campaign, demonstrating its strong commitment to the environment. The event was presided over by Dr. Davish Jain, Chairman of Prestige Foundation, and took place across all campuses: Campus 54, Campus 74C, and Prestige University. The special guest was Shri Vishnu Lamba Ji, the "Tree Man of India" and brand ambassador of the campaign.
Dr. Davish Jain emphasized the dual importance of education and environmental sustainability, stating that the initiative aimed to create a society that values both knowledge and nature equally. Shri Vishnu Lamba Ji highlighted the campaign’s role in promising a green and healthy future for coming generations.
The event began with the lighting of a lamp in front of the statue of Goddess Saraswati. Following this, the tree plantation campaign commenced, with hundreds of trees planted across the foundation’s campuses. Students, teachers, and other attendees participated enthusiastically, each tree marking a significant step towards environmental conservation.
A large number of teachers, volunteers, and local residents joined the event, appreciating and actively contributing to the PIMR Foundation’s efforts. The program, conducted by the Good Governance Cell, successfully demonstrated the foundation’s commitment to both education and environmental sustainability.

    Students managed end-to-end operations for Fashion8Home, from product listing and vendor management to implementing effective e-commerce strategies, expanding market reach and optimizing sales.

    Students played a pivotal role in establishing Swadanjali Foods Pvt. Ltd., developing comprehensive marketing strategies, designing captivating packaging for “Sadichaa” green tea, and executing targeted promotional campaigns across key sectors.
  7. Internship Fair
    PIMR hosted a prestigious Internship Fair, attracting participation from over 2000 students across diverse disciplines, demonstrating our students’ capability in organizing and managing large-scale events.
  8. Channel Development for Amrutam
    Students spearheaded the expansion of Amrutam’s sales network across Madhya Pradesh, establishing a robust distribution chain and implementing effective marketing strategies, showcasing their business acumen and strategic planning skills.
On January 25, 2024, National Voters' Day was celebrated at our institution in accordance with UGC guidelines. The event, organized by the Good Governance Cell under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya, saw the enthusiastic participation of more than 300 students, faculty members, and staff. The importance of voting in a democratic society was discussed in depth, emphasizing its role in shaping the nation's future.
The celebration aimed to raise awareness about voting among newly eligible voters as well as existing voters. All participants took the National Voters' Day pledge, reaffirming their commitment to exercising their voting rights responsibly. This initiative was part of our ongoing efforts to foster a culture of active citizenship and informed participation in the democratic process.

YOGA AND WELL BEING

As part of the Best Practices at PIMR, a series of Yoga and Well-being programs were organized, including sessions on Personality Enhancement and Stress Management through Sahaja Yoga Meditation, a certificate course on Integral Yoga discussing the connection between yoga and meditation, and a program on Integral Yoga and Sri Aurobindo’s Life in collaboration with the Sri Aurobindo Society. Lectures on Yoga, Dhyan Yoga, and Karma Yoga were attended by faculty and students. Additionally, a Yoga and Meditation Camp was organized, involving the Director, faculty, guests, and students.

AIC- Prestige Inspire Foundation (AIC-PIF) started its operation form September 17, 2018 by Atal Incubation Centre under Atal Innovation Mission, a scheme supported by NITI Aayog, Government of India to support start-ups and venture creation. Good Governance Cell

On May 25, 2023, over 200 volunteers from the Good Governance Cell participated in the Sansad Job Fair held at Gramin Haat Bazar in Indore. The students actively engaged in various activities, gaining experiential learning from their involvement in the event. The job fair was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Deepak Jaroliya, Director of the Good Governance Cell. This initiative provided the students with valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to contribute to a significant community event.
Prestige Institute of Management and Research organized the “Yuva Samvaad” program under its Good Governance Cell. The program aimed to encourage youth to actively contribute towards sustainable development goals, facilitating the exchange of experiences, ideas, and visions between the youth and the government. The event focused on promoting the Public-Private Partnership model among the youth and fostering collaboration between students, voluntary organizations, and state agencies for inclusive development.
The program commenced with a traditional Lamp-Lightening ceremony honouring Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Nishant Khare, Cabinet Minister of the Madhya Pradesh Government, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of youth in political and social participation, drawing parallels with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership.
Shri Shankar Lalwani Ji, Member of Parliament, and Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava Ji, Mayor of Indore City, were among the distinguished guests. Shri Ilayaraja T., Collector of Indore District, served as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Khare highlighted the role of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Commission in promoting good governance.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava proposed involving students in social activities through internships, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” campaign. He emphasized that Yuva Samvaad would energize students and connect them with society.
Shri Shankar Lalwani Ji noted that Yuva Samvaad provided a platform for youth to express their views on national, international, and local issues, fostering connectivity and idea-sharing. District Magistrate Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T. likened youth to an engine driving the country’s success, urging them to participate in government initiatives and embrace the concept of good governance.
Dr. Davish Jain, Chairman of Prestige Education Foundation, encouraged students to face adversity with balance and highlighted the foundation’s vision of inspiring active youth involvement in good governance, skill development, and positivity.

The Good Governance Cell organized the “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” campaign as per the Ministry of Education, Government of India guidelines. The session began with the lighting of a lamp in front of Maa Saraswati. The guest of the session was Mr. Prakhar Dave, founder of Lit Chowk. Mr. Dave emphasized the value of each vote, urging participants to vote thoughtfully for candidates who will work for the country, support the youth, and contribute positively to the nation. The session was successfully conducted by Good Governance Cell under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya, adhering to the Ministry of Education guidelines.
The Good Governance Cell organized an Expert Talks session on Healthy Lifestyle. The event began with the worship of Maa Saraswati and the lighting of the lamp by our guest, Shri Vijay Sohni. Many faculty members and students participated in the event.
Shri Vijay Sohni delivered an insightful speech on managing a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced daily routine, consuming nutritious meals rich in vitamins and minerals, and ensuring adequate sleep. He highlighted that eating healthy food and getting sufficient quality sleep are essential for overall well-being. Combining a balanced diet with adequate sleep significantly contributes to a healthier lifestyle.
The session was conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya. The event provided valuable insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle and was successfully organized by the Good Governance Cell.
The Good Governance Cell organized an Electoral Literacy Drive from our campus to Sathya Sai Square, inaugurated by Shri Dipin Jain, Vice Chairman, Prestige Education Foundation. Many faculty members joined the drive, which aimed to empower voters by raising awareness and understanding their rights.
The rally, conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya, successfully created awareness among community members. This initiative followed the guidelines of SVEEP and the Election Commission of India. Additionally, officials from the local administration and collectorate were present to support the event. The drive was a significant step towards educating the public about the importance of electoral participation and voter rights
The Good Governance Cell volunteered in the largest Health Camp in Madhya Pradesh, organized by the Madhya Pradesh government in Indore. The camp, supported by approximately 100 doctors and around 3,000 volunteers, provided medical treatment to 50,000 patients under a government scheme. The camp featured a central dome and 10 specialty domes, each with 10 outpatient departments (OPDs).
From our institute, over 150 volunteers participated. All volunteers were divided into groups of five, each led by a senior coordinator. Each group was assigned to different OPDs for management work. Our volunteers managed the crowd with politeness, guided patients to their respective OPDs, distributed food packets to doctors and volunteers, and assisted in the distribution of free medicines provided by the government.
The entire effort was conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya and significantly contributed to society.
On September 20, 2023, the Good Governance Cell organized a Cyber Security Awareness Program, featuring Shri Rajesh Dandotiya Ji, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Indore, as the session expert. The event saw active participation from over 300 students and faculty members. Dr. Deepak Jaroliya extended a warm floral welcome and delivered the welcome note. Shri Dandotiya shared valuable insights on various aspects of cyber security, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding personal and institutional data in an increasingly digital world. The session highlighted common cyber threats, preventive measures, and best practices for maintaining cyber hygiene. The program successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of cyber security and equipped them with essential knowledge to protect themselves against cybercrimes.
On 22nd September, Indore celebrated World Car Free Day by observing a ‘No Car Day,’ encouraging citizens to leave their private cars at home and embrace more sustainable modes of transportation. In advance of the event, public appeals were made to raise awareness and garner support for the initiative. Students from the Good Governance Cell actively participated in this significant event. They contributed by creating awareness among the public through various engaging activities, including making informative videos and spreading social awareness about the benefits of reducing car usage. Their efforts were instrumental in promoting the message of sustainability and highlighting the importance of reducing traffic congestion and pollution, contributing to a healthier and more environmentally friendly city.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, organized the India Smart Cities Conclave 2023 at the Brilliant Convention Centre, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on 26-27th September 2023. The Conclave featured participation from all 100 smart cities, showcasing a significant shift in city development through urban innovation. On 27th September 2023, President Smt. Draupadi Murmu felicitated the winners of the fourth edition of the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) 2022.
25 students from the Good Governance Cell volunteered at the event, gaining valuable experiential learning through active involvement. Their participation offered firsthand insights into innovative urban practices and fostered peer-to-peer learning, highlighting the importance of exemplary performance and the dissemination of best practices.
A walkathon aimed at raising awareness about fitness and health was conducted at Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), Indore. The event saw an enthusiastic participation of over 500 individuals from the community. Esteemed dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Shri Shankar Lalwani Ji and Padmashri Sushil Doshi Ji, graced the event with their presence. The walkathon was organized under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Jaroliya, ensuring its success.
