Samvedna: The Social Initiative Project

Samvedna is a three credit social project offered to students of PG programs. It involves community services to be undertaken by students while working with an NGO.  It teaches students the value of serving the society and help them develop critical thinking and self-discipline. Samvedna” is a Sanskrit word which means sensitivity, compassion, and empathy. Management is a highly evolved, dynamic applied science and applied arts, multidisciplinary subject. The managers are expected to be in synchronization with the human behavioral, emotional and psychological dynamics as well as have a very sound understanding of the environment and grass root realities. Management students need to nurture a “Wake mindset”. The right mix of sensitivity, awareness, compassion and empathy as a crucial life skill culminates in a positive life attitude. Social Project “Samvedna” is an attempt to instill these values by employing first hand experiential learning wherein students get to learn and practice these values in the field and apply them to management domain successfully. Thereby enabling them to become not only a successful managers but also a responsible citizen.
